 Nellie Mae Gailey Tudor
About 1919, Age 16
Brock, Parker County, Texas
Born December 5, 1903 - Died 1973

Rites Scheduled For Mrs. Tudor
Mrs. Nell Tudor, 68, a former Lubbock resident, died Thrusday in Des Moines, Iowa, where she had been living since 1970.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Sanders Memorial Chapel here with the Rev. W. F. Furguson, a retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Mrs. Tudor moved here in 1948 from Fort Worth and lived here until moving to Des Moines.
She is survived by a son, Wesley F. Hodges of Livermore, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Nell Taylor, of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Doc Gailey, of Mineral Wells; a sister, Mrs. Grace Cornelius of Grapevine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Villas Tudor, J. A. Phillips, J. D. Cornelius, Roy Taylor, Reggie Stone and Othal Tudor.
My grandmother, Edna Gailey, had this news clipping of the notice of Aunt Nell's death in her scrapbook which I have inherited. Even though grandma didn't identify the newspaper, I feel it is obvious that it came out of a Lubbock, Texas newspaper. As you can see, someone (probably grandma or Doc) marked through the year 1948 and wrote in the year 1938 for the year she moved to Lubbock from Fort Worth.

They were correct in putting the year 1938, as I found Nell in the 1940 Lubbock, Texas Census. There are a few items of interest to me in the census which I will have to research further. For one, I didn't realize Uncle R. H. had been married before and his two older children lived with them in Lubbock. I only knew about Wesley and his two younger sisters who were born later. Wesley's last name was Hodges. I see that in the 1940 census they listed it as Tudor. When he was older he went by his birth father's name Hodges. I wrote about this family here when posting about my grandfather, Doc Gailey's, sisters, Grace and Nell.
