Sat. 31 Aug 68
I haven't seen anything like this yet. Maybe it's around here somewhere.
I got in late last night. Met Sgt. Tomson today.
Everything OK, except it's hot and humid as hell.
I don't have a box number yet - will let you know.
Found the bankbook inside an envelope inside another envelope.

A Stars and Stripes Card
This card was written and mailed to my mother, Vernelle Gailey Rowbury in 1968 from Libya by my stepfather, Eddie Rowbury. He left the states for his tour of Libya, leaving mother with me and my husband and son in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She waited until base housing was available before leaving to join him.The card was mailed to Mrs. Vernelle Rowbury, 3500 Oak St., Apt. 3, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577 and is in a scrapbook belonging to me, Judith Richards Shubert.

What a neat postcard and story! Thanks for sharing your Postcard on Friendship Friday.
Thanks to Eddy and Janice for reading and commenting on my treasured postcards! Happy PFF to you, too.
Interesting family postcard. Happy PFF.

Isn't that just too cool that the postcard was from Eddie and that the first comment on it was from Eddy! Cool coincidence! Happy PFF Judith:)
Thanks, Judy and Marie, for visiting me! Yes, that happy coincidence didn't escape me! Don't you just love Eddy's profile pic?
Thanks for stopping by my blog and etsy shop! I hit some yard sales today looking for a treasure like your cool post card. No luck but I did find some great old books. Happy belated PFF!
That's a beautiful postcard, the story behind it makes it even more valuable. I recently inherited my husband's grandma's postcard collection and would like to do the same thing you did -- post it in my blog with a short description. But first things first, I have to find an album where I can put them all safely.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you'll have an enjoyable weekend.

Thanks Michelle for coming by. I MUST go shopping to the nearest antique store! You've really whetted my appetite for a newly acquired postcard (or book).
Hi Sreisaat! I envy you your collection of your husband's grandma's postcards! Enjoy them and by all means share them with us after you have found an album to put them in.
Your background to the card is possibly more fascinating than the card itself. Wonderful history.
Thank you, Sheila. I appreciate your comments.
Everyone should save their family postcards. the longer you have them, the more interesting they become.
Yes, who knew! If we only knew then what we know now ~ isn't that the way that saying goes?
hi!!
the postcard is such a treasure! :) people hardly sent postcards here in my part of the world, or at least nobody in my family did. When I was 6 I used to write to my aunty in Egypt and just last year I found them back in my aunty's house (she's back here since 15yrs..) and I kept them back for myself and now they become my own treasure!! :D
oh, happy PFF, though I came here a bit late ;) thanks for visiting my blog as well! see you!
Hi imajica! Thanks for your visit and your comments. Did you write to your Aunt in letters or on postcards? Aren't you glad you found them at her house and now you have them? Come again to see me often.
