SMILE FOR THE CAMERADecember 10, 2008
I would love to be able to put not only this small photo of my beloved grandmother into my Christmas stocking, but into that of all of my 1st cousins, as well. I would truly love to have her here with us longer! I should have asked her more questions. We talked a lot, and as a smaller child I eavesdropped a lot on the adults (didn't you do that?); but I would ask her where her grandparents got to. I have no idea where Richard and Polly Brooks Puckett are buried. I've been searching for them so long it's a standard statement when my husband and I start out to go visiting the dead in the Texas graveyards to say, "Maybe Richard and Polly are here!"

I love this picture! Edna was so pretty! Thanks, Judy, This was a Christmas present for me too!
Grandma was indeed beautiful; inside and out! To take myself and my sisters to raise 14 years after this photo aged her, but did not take away from her beautiful spirit! Merry Christmas, Sis!
Our sister Ann said, "A beautiful picture of Grandma and wouldn't it be grand to have a few more minutes with her!!"
Edna's niece Vada said, "Well, you made me shed a tear.. She and Mother looked a lot alike... Yes, we all eavesdropped... I will tell you now , I'm a graveyard "freak"... I'll whisper something ion your ear Sat."
My 1st cousin Jim wrote, "Thanks, Judy!"
Judy, you brought back memories of eavesdropping on the adults and my own beautiful grandmother! Thank you! And thanks for following my blog!
The picture of your grandmother looks extremely familiar to me. Might she have had a friend named Mandy Moore/Roberts (my mother)? I remember a picture of a woman in a similar pose wearing a hat like this. I cannot find the precise picture (one of my albums is missing and the picture may be in it), l but I have a couple of small photographs that might be the same woman as I am thinking of. I will try to post the pictures on my blog, and if you have time, could you check them? Thanks - that picture was a real jolt to me!
Oh my gosh! I was looking at the picture Greta posted on her blog, then switching back over to Edna's photo...they are the same woman...or her twin! What an exciting mystery!
It is a great mystery! I don't believe this is my grandmother, Edna, but it MAY be one of the two half-sisters whom she did not grow up with who remained in Louisiana. Hmmm.
Judy
I love a good mystery!
