Harvey Vandegar Puckett Family in Millsap, Texas

Harvey Vandegar Puckett Family - Millsap, Texas

Description: THE HARVEY VANDEGAR PUCKETT FAMILY: Left to right: Lorado Missouri Puckett Kidwell Reidell, Boyd Kidwell (Lorado's 1st husband), Lilly Mae Puckett Morris, Edna Alice Puckett Gailey, Annie Mildred Puckett Ames, Alice Irene Cook Puckett, L.G. Puckett Smith, Harvey V. Puckett, and Harvey Ballard Puckett with family puppy!

Picture made in front of house where they lived in Millsap. The log house has been moved to the center of the community and is now a museum.

I can imagine the family getting together for this picture in order to send it on to Lucy when she arrived in Idaho. You know the winters are often very mild here in North Central Texas and maybe they made it in December. Lucy (not in the picture) died Dec. 30, 1918 after arriving in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Date Taken: 1918 on back of Picture

Place Taken: Millsap, Texas

Hi, Eugenio. Thanks for looking at my blog. I don't know of a Eugene Ames in my database, but will contact another cousin who might have some more information. Good luck on your search and I hope I'll be able to help. I'll email you if I find anything.

Hi Judy, I'm looking for information about the Lamar family in Millsap, TX. All I know is my great-grandmother Danella "Della" Lamar was born there Feb. 11, 1891. I saw a map of the town and noticed a S. Lamar street about 3and a half blocks long. How can I find out if this street is named after the Lamar family or not? Thanks for any help or links you can point me toward. Sheree (wife of Duggan)

Hello Sheree. I think the Library in Weatherford (the county seat) would be helpful. You can contact them at Weatherford Public Library
Genealogical & History Dept.
1014 Charles Street
Weatherford, Tx 76086

Genealogy Dept 817-598-4156

There is also a small museum in Millsap located across from the post office in the Benjamin M. Porter Cabin. Millsap Post Office, 103 Fairview Rd, Millsap - (940) 682-7393. Maybe they can tell you how to get in touch with the Millsap Heritage Society which I think is housed there.

Hi Judy,
My name is Tami Chandler and I am the granddaughter of Ballard Puckett. My father is Van Puckett in Houston, Tx. and my Aunt Mary told me of this sight. I was happy to see a picture posted that my father gave to me last Oct. I am just learning about lineage on my fathers side and it is nice to know that you have put such great time and effort into this. I live in Ojai, Ca. and would love to learn more. Hope to hear from new family members. Thank you again.

Hi Tammy!
It's great to hear from you. I'm glad to know Van's daughter. Hope you have had the opportunity to find more of the Puckett posts here on this blog. The Pucketts were my mother's lineage, and I've tried to research them through the years. If you'd like to contact me, just email me at
